Stratocracy, n. Military government; a state ruled directly by the military.

Could it happen here? Once this was the stuff of wild fiction, like the 1964 movie Seven Days in May, but events of late make this seem a slightly less outlandish wildcard than it might have seemed even half a year ago. Still unlikely in the extreme, but no longer in the realm of Elvis-is-alive-and-living-with-aliens fantasy.
